Introduction: Proper control of type 2 diabetics as
a chronic disease is an important factor for preventing complication. Attitude
of patients to preventive behavior can affect their performance. The aim of
this study was to determine the attitude toward preventive behavior of complications
in type 2 diabetics.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-correlation study, 200 patients with
type 2 diabetes attended and were examined in the Yazd Diabetes Research
Center. The Questionnaire used for data collection consisted of demographic
variables and "Attitude toward Preventive Behaviors of Complications in
type 2 diabetics". Content and face validity were confirmed and the
reliability of the instrument was determined by internal consistency and
test-retest methods. Data analysis was analyzed by SPSS/19.
Findings: Majority of patients had positive
attitude towards preventive behavior of diabetes type 2 complications. In
addition, the length of diagnosis was significantly correlated with attitude
toward preventive behavior (p<0.05). However, age was not significantly
correlated with attitude toward preventive behavior of type 2 diabetes
complications.
Conclusion: Positive coloration between attitude
toward preventive behavior of diabetes type 2 complications and the length
of being diagnosed of type 2 diabetics can direct policy makers to
conduct training programs for new patients with type 2. Providing educational
programs to prevent type 2 diabetes complications behavior is suggested.
