Introduction: Depression is one of the most common causes of mental disorders in adolescents and high school students because adolescents are exposed to a variety of events in the environment of peers and friends, school and home. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy on psychological components (anxiety, stress, depression) and problem solving styles in junior high school students in Sanandaj.
Methods: The method of the present study was quasi-experimental using a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all female high school students in Sanandaj in the academic year of 1996-97. 40 female junior high school students were selected by cluster random sampling after screening to diagnose depression. To collect data, demographic questionnaire, "Beck Anxiety Inventory", " Stress, Anxiety and Depression Scale-42", "Beck Depression Inventory" and "Problem Solving Styles Questionnaire" was used. Content validity was measured by qualitative method, face validity and reliability by internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's coefficient. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy were presented to the intervention group in 10 sessions of 90 minutes. Data were analyzed using SPSS.24.
Results: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy has a significant effect on psychological components (anxiety, stress, depression) and problem solving styles (P <0.001).
Conclusions: Considering the effect of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy on changing the level of psychological components (anxiety, stress, depression) and problem-solving styles in students, it is suggested that officials in the field of research and student health use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for students who are depressed.
