Introduction: Chronic fatigue syndrome is a complex and debilitating disorder that affects various aspects of individual and social life. The present study aimed to determine the correlation of health behaviors (sleep, Nutrition, Exercise), acceptance and action, Anger Rumination with the mediating role of work-family conflict and the moderating role of family supportive supervisor behavior with chronic fatigue syndrome among employees of Isfahan Regional Water Company.
Methods: The research method is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included all employees of Isfahan Regional Water Company in 2024, of which 200 people (141 men and 59 women) were selected by convenience sampling. Participants completed demographic questionnaires, "Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index", "Life Style Questionnaire", "Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II", "Anger Rumination Scale", "Work-Family Conflict Scale", "Family Supportive Supervisor Behavior Scale", and "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Questionnaire". To assess the validity of the instruments, previous research was sufficient, and only the content validity index and content validity ratio of the "Family Supportive Supervisor Behavior Scale" were examined. Reliability was measured using the internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data were analyzed using SPSS .26 and Amos 24.
Results: Sleep had a positive, direct and significant correlation (β=0.158, P=0.004) and nutrition and exercise had a negative, direct and significant correlation with chronic fatigue syndrome (β=-0.225, P<0.001). Acceptance and action also had a negative, direct (β=-0.133, P=0.015) and indirect (β=-0.029, P=0.044) and significant correlation, while anger rumination showed a positive, direct (β=0.260, P<0.001) and indirect (β=0.038, P=0.033) and significant correlation with chronic fatigue syndrome. Family-work conflict (β = 0.128, P = 0.045) had a positive, direct and significant correlation with chronic fatigue syndrome, while work-family conflict (β= -0.03, P= 0.96) had no significant correlation with chronic fatigue syndrome. It is worth noting that the moderating role of family supportive supervisor behavior was not significant in the correlation between family-work conflict and chronic fatigue syndrome (β=0.2030, P= -0.088). In other words, family supportive supervisor behavior only had a negative, direct and significant correlation with chronic fatigue syndrome (β= -0.253, P< 0.001) and family-work conflict (β= -0.268, P= 0.001).
Conclusion: Chronic fatigue is a multidimensional phenomenon that is influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. Therefore, organizations can effectively improve the health, well-being, and performance of affected employees by designing and implementing comprehensive interventions.
