Abstract:   (55 Views)
Introduction: Divorce causes many psychological harms such as anger, tension, incompatibility, and decreased psychological capital. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" on divorce adjustment and psychological capital of female heads of household.
Methods: The present study adopted a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The statistical population included female heads of households who attended the Mehrandish New Center in the city of Arak in 2024. From this population, 30 individuals were selected using purposive sampling. They were then randomly assigned to two groups—intervention and control—each consisting of 15 participants, through simple randomization using a lottery method. The instruments used in this study included a demographic questionnaire, the “Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale”, and the “Psychological Capital Questionnaire”. The content validity of the instruments was assessed qualitatively, and their reliability was determined using internal consistency through Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The intervention group received eight sessions of “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” (CBT), while the control group did not receive any intervention. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS . 26.
Results: There was a statistically significant difference in the mean total score of divorce adjustment and psychological capital and their components in the two groups (P<0/001). The mean score of divorce adjustment in the intervention group decreased from 301.46 to 253.61, and psychological capital increased from 70/21 to 83/35.
Conclusion: “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” was effective on divorce adjustment and psychological capital of female heads of households. Therefore, it is suggested that this treatment method be used as an effective intervention to improve divorce adjustment and psychological capital of female heads of households.
