Abstract: Introduction:
Seeking and selecting elite experts for learning and performing certain skills have always posed a challenge to human societies. Support provided by the family and school can play a crucial role in discovering and developing skills for athletics. The present study was carried out to outline a family-school support model in the development of athletic skills. Methodology:
The study employed a qualitative approach, using the Grounded theory based on the systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were used to collect data. Sixteen experts in skill discovery and development were interviewed using purposive sampling and snowball strategy. Findings:
Findings of the present study are the results of extraction of 88 initial codes or concepts from the interviews and counting of 29 concepts and 13 categories which were categorized as paradigm patterns (including financial, moral, behavioral, and social support), as the axial phenomenon and causal conditions (resource development and standardization), context conditions (social and media), intervening conditions (bureaucracy and management weaknesses), strategies (common strategies and educational strategies), and outcomes (talent cultivation and competition). Conclusion:
Family support system and the educational system and the cooperation of the sports-related compartments of each can altogether be the crucial factor in the development of athletic talents of the nation. Keywords:
