Introduction: Teachers of exceptional schools due to the problems of students, need to improve the positive psychological characteristics, in particular mental well-being. The aim of this study was to predict subjective well-Being based on health promoting lifestyle, work-family conflict and job satisfaction among exceptional school teachers.
Methods: This study was a descriptive-correlational study. The research population was all teachers of Ahwaz exceptional schools in 2012-2012. 120 of them were selected by cluster sampling method. Data were collected by "Subjective Well-being Questionnaire", "Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile", "Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire", and "Job Satisfaction Questionnaire”. Data was analyzed by SPSS.19.
Results: Health promotion lifestyle (r = 0.476) and job satisfaction (r = 0.263) had a positive and significant correlation with mental well-being. On the other hand, the conflict of work-family (r = -0.301) correlated negatively with mental well-being. Also, health promotion lifestyle variables, work-family conflict and job satisfaction were able to predict 32.6% of the changes in subjective well-being of teachers of exceptional schools. In this prediction, the share of lifestyle enhancing health was higher than other variables (P < 0.01).
Conclusions: The results indicated the importance of health promotion lifestyle, work-family conflict and job satisfaction in predicting subjective well-being of teachers of exceptional schools. Therefore, it is recommended that counselors, clinical psychologists and therapists improve the mental health of teachers of exceptional schools by improving their lifestyles, improving their health and job satisfaction and reducing work-family conflicts.
