Introduction: Social well-being, as one of the important dimensions of health, is important among medical students due to the importance of effective communication with the community in their future careers. The present study aimed to determine the correlation between Social Well-Being with the physical and mental Health in medical students at Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 2024.
Methods: The present study was conducted as a descriptive-correlational research on 120 medical students. Students from various academic levels (basic sciences, physiopathology, extern and intern) were selected using a multi-stage stratified-proportional and simple random sampling method. Data collection was carried out with a demographic questionnaire, "Keyes's Social Well-being Questionnaire" and "36-Item Short Form Health Survey". The validity of the instruments was measured using content validity in a qualitative manner and reliability was measured using internal consistency by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The instruments were made available to students through virtual space . Data analysis was performed with SPSS . 24.
Results: The average total health score in the internship program was significantly higher than in the basic sciences program (P=0.026). Based on the correlation results, there is an indirect and significant correlation between social well-being and academic grade point average (r=0.204, P=0.026) and a direct and significant correlation between social well-being and health (r=0.057, P=0.045).
Conclusion: Given the weak correlation between social well-being and student health, it is recommended that further research be conducted to explore this relationship more deeply to provide evidence-based recommendations.
