Correlation of job satisfaction and productivity of nurses working in hospitals in Kerman University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: Productivity is an intellectual point of view it always trying to improve something that already exists. Different factors affect the productivity of hospital nurses constitute the major part of the population. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation of job satisfaction and productivity of nurses working in hospitals in Kerman University of Medical Sciences. Material & Methods: This study was descriptive-correctional one. This study was conducted on 266 nurses of Kerman University of Medical Sciences through classified random sampling. The participants of the study were all of nurses who working in different wards of hospitals of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2012. For data collection the “Job Satisfaction” and “Productivity of Nurses” questionnaires were used after content validity and test retest reliability were measured. For analyzing data the SPSS/16 was used. Findings: There was a significant positive correlation between job satisfaction of nurses and productivity (P=0.0001, r=0.94). Also, over 72% of the nurses' had complained about pay, working hours and the shortage of nurses. Conclusion: Considering the relationship between job satisfaction and nurse’s productivity, promoting and improving of job satisfaction by nursing and hospitals managers can increase productivity. It is suggested that hospital managers constantly trying to improve productivity.
