The Role of Resilience in Predicting Quality of Life Through the Mediation of Psychological Resilience in Mothers of Children with Specific Learning Disorder

ntroduction: Specific learning disorder is a childhood neurodevelopmental disorder that causes weakness in basic academic skills and places significant psychological stress on parents, especially mothers. The aim of the present study is to determine the role of resilience in predicting quality of life through the mediation of psychological resilience in mothers of children with specific learning disorders.
Methods: The present study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included mothers of children aged 8 to 12 years with specific learning disabilities in Golbahar city, Khorasan Razavi province. This study was conducted in 2024 and 350 people participated through purposeful and accessible sampling. The research instruments included a demographic questionnaire, the “Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale”, the “World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire– BREF”, and the “Clough Mental Toughness Questionnaire”. Content validity was assessed using a qualitative method, convergent validity and discriminant validity, and reliability was assessed using the internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The data were analyzed in SPSS .27 and Smart PLS. 4.
Results: There is a direct, positive and significant correlation between quality of life and resilience (r=0.67, P<0.05), quality of life and psychological strength (r=0.72, P<0.05), and resilience and psychological strength (r=0.73, P<0.05).
Conclusion: There is a direct, positive, strong, and meaningful correlation between quality of life and resilience, and quality of life with psychological resilience. Therefore, designing educational interventions to promote psychological resilience and resilience can lead to improved quality of life for mothers.
