Abstract:   (30 Views)
Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases occupy the first place among the causes of death worldwide. The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of psychological capital in the relationship between social intimacy and distress tolerance with a health-promoting lifestyle in cardiovascular patients.
Methods: The research design is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study included cardiovascular patients in 1404 who referred to 3 specialized heart clinics in the cities of Rasht, Lahijan, and Astaneh Ashrafieh for outpatient examination. 265 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, the "Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile 2", the "Social Intimacy Scale", the "Distress Tolerance Scale", and the "Psychological Capital Questionnaire". The validity of the instruments was measured using content validity in a qualitative way and reliability was measured using the internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Statistical data analysis was performed using AMOS. 24 and SPSS .26.
Results: The proposed model has a good statistical fit (χ²/df =1.94, RMSEA = 0.062, CFI=0.957, GFI=0.946). The relationships of social intimacy mediated by psychological capital (β=0.0957, P=0.001) and distress tolerance mediated by psychological capital (β=0.1073, P = 0.001) predict health-promoting lifestyle.
Conclusion: Psychological capital, as a key mediator, plays an important role in the link between social intimacy and distress tolerance with a health-promoting lifestyle in cardiovascular patients. It is recommended that therapeutic and supportive interventions for cardiovascular patients, in addition to paying attention to clinical aspects, focus on strengthening social intimacy and distress tolerance skills with respect to psychological capital dimensions.
