Abstract:   (3278 Views)
Introduction: Addiction has affected people's performance in many ways and endangered their own health and that of their community. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy” training on substance use feedback and general health of addicts in 2019.
Methods: The present study was performed by quasi-experimental method with pre-test design, post-test with control group. The statistical population included all addicted men in Kerman in autumn and winter of 2019. Among the addicts leaving, referring to the two addiction treatment centers, Day and Arsh, Kerman, were selected using purposeful sampling and placed in two groups of intervention and control groups (15 people in each group). Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, "Feedback Toward Substance Scale" and "General Health Questionnaire" in two stages of pre-test and post-test by the intervention group. Construct validity by factor analysis and instruments reliability was measured by internal consistency by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy” was presented to the intervention group twice a week in 10 sessions of 90 minutes and the control group did not receive any intervention during this period. Data were analyzed using SPSS.23.
Results: Mean in the variable on feedback on substance use in the pre-test (31.31 control group and 30.28 intervention group) and post-test (30.82 control group and 22.75 intervention group), and the mean in general health variable in the pre-test (control group 41.86 and intervention group 40.59) and post-test (control group 42.06 and intervention group 51.27) were obtained. Also, the effect of the “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy” training on drug use feedback and general health of addicts was significant at the level of P <0.01.
Conclusions: “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy” has an important effect on drug use feedback and general health of addicts. It is suggested that the “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy” be used as an intervention to improve the health status of addicts leaving.
