Introduction: Pre-diabetes patients are at risk of developing type-two diabetes. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of Aloe Vera extract on blood lipids in patients with pre-diabetes. Materials & Methods: The method of this study was a double blind randomized controlled clinical trial. In this 72 subjects with pre-diabetes symptoms were participated in 2014. Patients in three groups consumed capsules twice a day: Aloe Vera 300 mg (AL300), 500 mg (AL500) and placebo (PL). Lipid profile were evaluated in baseline at four or eight weeks. Data was analyzed by SPSS/16. Findings: The levels of Total cholesterol and LDL-C, only in the group AL500 (P<0.001 and p=0.01), was significantly reduced with Wilcoxon and ANOVA within group tests, along with HDL-C level improvement just after eight weeks with Kruskal-Wallis test (P=0.004). Triglyceride level showed a significant decrease with ANOVA test (P<0.045) just after four weeks use of AL500. Conclusion: The use of Aloe Vera extract in pre-diabetic patients, have significantly reduced the level of lipids in eight weeks. It is suggested that, Aloe Vera can be added to the daily diet with a standard rate to prevent the increase of glucose in blood and fat.
