The Effect of “Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy” on Marital Satisfaction in Infertil Women Applying for IVF

Introduction: The problem of infertility as a problem is also associated with many psychological problems. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy on marital satisfaction in infertile women applying for IVF.
Methods: The present study was performed by quasi-experimental method with pre-test, post-test design with control group and statistical population of all infertile women applying for IVF in Ghaen city in 1398. Among them, women with low marital satisfaction were selected using targeted sampling and were divided into two groups of 17 as intervention and control groups. The data were obtained using the "Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale" in two stages, pre-test and post-test from the intervention and control group. The content validity, face and reliability of the scale were performed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient method. Cognitive-behavioral group therapy was presented to the intervention group in 10 sessions 90-minute. Data were analyzed using SPSS. 19.
 Results: The effect of group cognitive-behavioral therapy training on the components of marital satisfaction (contractual response, personality issues, marital relationship, conflict resolution, financial supervision, equality, leisure activities, sexual relations, marriage and children and ideological orientation) In infertile women applying for IVF at the p <0.05 level is significant.
 Conclusion: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy leads to increased marital satisfaction in infertile women applying for IVF. Therefore, cognitive-behavioral training should be considered to increase marital satisfaction of infertile couples.
